The Old Bank charity started in 2017 when The NatWest bank closed and the landlord offered it for community use. Since then it has been used by the local community to host events and more recently since 2020 has had a Community Larder to support those in need due to COVID and now the current economic crisis.
We are passionate abut reducing food waste so run a weekly Saturday stock up, cookery classes and are due to start Job Clubs shortly.
BECCA
Hi, I’m Becca and I am the Chair of the charity. I started volunteering at the Community Larder at the start of 2022 and became a trustee a few months later. I bring lots of skills to the table, most of which have come with me from my careers in the voluntary sector and social work. Volunteering has been an important part of my life for more than 25 years and I have a passion for helping in my local community. As chair of the charity, it is my responsibility to ensure that everything runs smoothly which can be a challenge but is very rewarding. We are always here to help so please don’t hesitate to contact us if you need to.
MELISSA
Hello I’m Mel. I’ve been a trustee of the Old Bank since July 2022. Having volunteered for about a year I wanted to join as a trustee, to help to build and support the charity, and the growing communities. This is my first trustee position, and it is important to me, that as a charity we can continue supporting the people within our communities. I am the fundraising trustee for the Old Bank Charity.
TINA
Hello, I am Tina and I have been a trustee of the Old Bank since April 2021. My background has always been working in children’s services either in the public, private or third sector. I have also been a trustee of HomeStart Kernow, so have experience of being a trustee. I have a passion for improving outcomes for children, young people, and families. I am the designated Safeguarding Lead for The Old Bank.
HARVEY
Hi I’m Harvey. I helped start off the renovations at The Old Bank with my NCS team in 2016. I’ve since joined as a trustee with one of my roles being IT support for the charity. I believe it’s important for Camelford to have a community space that’s available to everyone at an affordable price.
Following a large refurbishment thanks to funding from Cornwall Council Levelling Up Fund and Sedel Collings Foundation we now have a fantastic community hub which over the next year will grow to offer more events, contact us to find out more!
